Activites in & Around Negril
If you'd like to get out and enjoy the local cuisine and nightlife there are lots of great places within walking distance. Ricks Café, known for its cliff diving and sunsets is just two minutes away. Negril Light House (approximately 5 minutes drive) Perhaps the most distinctive landmark in Negril and can be seen right from our own deck. Built in 1894, it was originally operated by Kerosene. In these days of Global Positioning Systems, there are plans to turn it into a museum.
Negril’s Seven-Mile Beach (approximately 10 minutes drive) The fun never stops in Negril. Enjoy seven miles of white sand beach with a variety of bars, restaurants and hang out spots.
Rhodes Hall (approximately 15 minutes drive) Expert guides will ensure your mount is right for you whether you are a novice or experienced horse rider. A two-hour ride takes you through banana and coconut groves and high into the hills. Crocodile watching is an highlight of the tour. Climax is an exhilarating gallop, or trot, or walk, along the beach, according to your desire and ability.
Mayfield Falls & Mineral Spring (approximately 45 minutes drive) A river with a beautiful waterfall. After hiking up the river there is a short stop at the Mayfield Yard Gazebo grill & bar. Then a trip on the mountain slopes across a bamboo bridge.
Black River Safari (approximately 90 minutes drive) Black River Safari is a quaint coastal town on the seacoast, where Jamaica's longest navigable river meets the Caribbean Sea, on the south west coast of the island. A major shipping port for logwood in the 1800's, Black River by boat is a fascinating and unforgettable experience for bird watchers and crocodile aficionados. The tour by boat up the river lasts one and a half hours. One of the highlights is the hand feeding of "Herman" a pet crocodile.
Y.S. Falls (approximately 90 minutes drive) Discover the beauty and serenity of YS Falls' spectacular 7-tiered waterfall and lush vegetation. Take the tractor or jitney for the 10 minute journey to the waterfalls. Once there, enjoy tubing, rope swinging, dipping in the natural pool, or simply absorbing the natural surroundings.
Appleton Estate (approximately 120 minutes drive) For those who like rum, visit the legendary Appleton Estate Rum distillery and discover how their world famous rum has been produced and blended over the centuries. Free samples!
Dolphin Cove (approximately 150 minutes drive) Visitors can swim with a family of Bottle Nose dolphins. The natural cove is surrounded by four acres of lush tropical rain forest. The cove is also home to other marine species such as rays, eels and sharks as well as tropical birds, like the macaw.
